How to Reduce Sugar Cravings

The worst part of trying to give up sugar has to be the cravings.

Thinking back to when I first stopped eating sugar back in 2014 the cravings got me HARD!

I didn’t know what I was doing and I didn’t know how I could help myself.

I did, however, create some ways to help me beat a sugar craving so here they are to help you do the same.

  1. Chew some gum. The minty gum should help cut through that craving.

  2. Brush your teeth. Just like chewing minty gum, the minty toothpaste and act of brushing your teeth will really help you get through the craving.

  3. Drink some water. You might be dehydrated and drinking water or a herbal tea can distract you long enough for the craving to subside.

  4. Go for a walk. Doing some activity and moving your body will change your thought process giving you time to work through the craving.

  5. Set a 10 minute timer. Cravings are usually a hormone response and they can and will simply disappear if you wait long enough.

  6. Eat something savoury. Strong tasting food can help deter you from the sweet craving. Hummus, strong cheese, salted nuts all help.

If you really want to reduce your sugar intake then working out how to handle a sugar craving is the key to your success.
