Maximising Daylight

They do say that the best things in life are free, and daylight is one of those things.

It’s easy to get distracted and stay inside all day but remembering to go outside at key points throughout the day can make a massive difference to your physical and mental health.

Regular daylight exposure can help with your sleep quality, your bone health, energy levels and it is a brilliant mood booster!

So here are some easy ways to maximise your outdoor time, especially if you’re busy with work and day to day life:

πŸŒ‡ Take your morning tea/coffee outside for 5-10 minutes first thing in the morning. This will regulate your circadian rhythm, boost your alertness, enhance your mood, and (believe it or not) improve your sleep quality for the night ahead.

πŸŒ‡ Meet a friend for a walk instead of a drink. The social connection will improve your mood and being outside in the daylight boosts your vitamin D, your motivation and boosts your immune system.

πŸŒ‡ Take a walk after your main meal. As soon as you put your knife and fork down, head out for a 10 to 15 minute walk. This will help reduce a blood sugar spike after your meal, and will also aid digestion. You can tidy up when you get back home!

πŸŒ‡ Relax or walk outside at sunset. Spending time outside while the sun sets is fantastic for lowering stress. It helps regulate your sleep cycle and improves mental wellbeing.
